The mission of the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology is to train and retrain employees for the workforce while providing an affordable education that allows students to contribute to the economies of their local communities. The Henderson-Chester County Tennessee Technology Center (TTC) provides programs and assistance for the adult learner seeking to improve their employment and academic skills.  The Center serves as home to Chester County Adult Education and programs from the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology and Crump.

 

Chester County Adult Education

Chester County Adult Education serves the adult learner in obtaining the High School Equivalency Diploma and improving workforce skills. While students are preparing to earn their diploma, career planning, resume planning, and job skills preparation are also vital parts of the curriculum. The program is funded through a grant from the State of Tennessee.

Statistics confirm a person with a high school credential will earn an average of $10,500 more in wages per year than a high school dropout. Graduates of the Chester County Adult Education program are enrolling in postsecondary education courses and majoring in fields which include: Nursing, Cosmetology, Emergency Medical Technician, and Engineering.  Others have obtained gainful employment in efforts to provide a better life for themselves and their families.

Licensed Practical Nursing

The Jackson Regional Practical Nursing Program provides the theory and skills necessary to perform as an entry level practical nurse upon successful program completion. Instruction is provided through classroom lecture and discussion, laboratory demonstrations and practice, and clinical assignments at hospitals and long term care facilities. Through clinical rotations, students are exposed to the care of persons in a variety of settings such as: medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetrical and geriatric. Progressing from simple to complex, clinical experiences provide students the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for the practice of nursing and for providing the foundation for continuing personal and professional growth.

 

Health Information Technology

This program will provide training in medical law and ethics, medical terminology and anatomy, medical coding and billing, electronic health records and health information management as well as employability skills. The student will work on real-life simulations. The training is as realistic as possible through the use of simulation software and medical cases. This course is geared toward the mandated use of electronic health records by the year 2015 and will equip the student with the skills necessary for the rapidly changing medical field.
